尽管克鲁格曼对曼昆事件不发表看法，但他的老婆Robin Wells却发表了意见，克鲁格曼很不好意思，强调这是Robin Wells自己的观点，不代表他本人的看法。

Robin Wells认为对于教师来说，学生提出的愚蠢问题远比愚蠢的答案重要，此事的教训在于一二三四吧啦吧啦，其中一条她说道：现在的经济学教师应该提早告诉学生自由市场的局限。学生应该理解自由市场在概念上的重要性以及现实世界存在的对自由市场的限制。她说，教师应告诉学生当前的经济混乱正是因为市场竞争不充分引起的（劳动市场和金融市场）。

事实上，这是一个称为INET（Institute for New Economic Thinking）发起的活动的内容：对现行经济学教育进行反思和创新。该组织雄心勃勃，纠集英、美经济学教育精英进行研究和探讨。目前分为英国组和美国组，分别展开研究。

没办法，经济学不是物理或化学等学科，不是所有因素都可控，尤其是有人这个经济变量。
我们不应期望经济学解释和预测所有经济状况，尤其是预测
