There are significant changes in supported operating systems for SAS 9.4 due to changes in some of the key components of SAS.

SAS Enterprise Guide 6.1 was first made available in SAS 9.4 and is only available as a 64-bit application and is only supported on the 64-bit editions of the Microsoft Windows operating systems listed below:

• Microsoft Windows Server 2008 (x64) with Service Pack 2

• Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1

• Microsoft Windows Server 2012 (x64)

• Microsoft Windows 7 (x64) with Service Pack 1 - Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate Editions

• Microsoft Windows 8 Pro (x64)

Since this change will require some SAS users to purchase new hardware and operating systems, ITS has decided to wait until 2014 to license SAS 9.4.
