In China, the frozen dough industry is still small and can be traced back to 2004. As demand for baked goods increases, China will need economical solutions to keep up with daily consumption. We are seeing opportunities for frozen dough in bakeries, cafes, Western style restaurants, hypermarket chains, convenience stores and hotels. Time-wise and cost-wise for most of these segments, we see frozen dough becoming a more efficient alternative to freshly baked products. Early birds in the market with the know-how, technology and equipment will be able to establish partnerships and joint ventures with local players in China.
In this Rabobank Industry Note, I explore the opportunities in various retail channels and where regional growth is most likely in China’s blooming frozen dough market. Read through my analysis and I welcome your questions, feedback and comments.
