Instructions for Submissions
All submissions should be sent by email to the Editorial Office of the Asian Economic Journal (AEJ): (aej@eaeaweb.com). Emails accompanying submissions should indicate that the paper is not concurrently being considered for publication elsewhere and whether one of the authors is a current member of the East Asian Economic Association (EAEA) having paid fees during the calendar year prior to submission. For EAEA members, there is no submission fee. For residents of developing Asian economies (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, East Timor, India, Indonesia, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand or Vietnam) and/or graduate students, the 2018 membership fee is US$50; for all others, the membership fee is US$90. For non-members, the submission fee is US$100.

To become a member of the EAEA, please use the current membership form, and send the appropriate membership by e-mail or fax or post to:

East Asian Economic Association Branch Office
c/o Nakanishi Printing Co., Ltd. Shimodachiuri-Ogawa
Kamigyo-ku, Kyoto 602-8048, Japan
Fax: +81-75-415-3662; Email: eaea@nacos.com

Membership form available from here.

All submissions must meet two criteria to be considered for publication and to be eligible for refereeing. First, the submission must be clearly related to 1 or more of the 27 economies covered by the AEJ: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Cambodia, China, East Timor, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Laos, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Second, the total length of a submission, including the title, author information, abstract, text, tables, figures, notes, references and appendices, should not exceed by more than 20 percent the AEJ limit for published papers of 8000 words.

Manuscripts should be submitted in a single editable (to allow removal of author information) MS-Word in the following format:

1. The first page should contain the article’s title, names and affiliations of the authors, complete mailing addresses and a suggested running head (abbreviated form of the title).

2. The second page should repeat the title and contain a short abstract of approximately 100 words, a list of keywords, and appropriate Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) classification codes.

3. Footnotes, references, tables and figures should be placed on separate pages at the end of the manuscript and be properly numbered.

4. References in the text and in footnotes should follow the author-date format; for example, (Becker, 1964; Mincer, 1974). References should be typed according to the following formats:
