      The Iroquois lived in what is now present-day New York State near the St. Lawerence River, and between the Adirondack Mountains and Niagara Falls. Between wars and conquest, they gained land in much of North Eastern North America, and Canada. During the Revolutionary War however, the Iroquois lost much land in New York. They were also called the "Five Nations". The Iroquois lived in two large, ranch houses that can hold up to 30 to 60 indians. These houses could be 150 feet long.

What was the lifestyle and culture of the Apache tribe?
The Apaches were a nomadic tribe of hunter gatherers. Men were in charge of hunting for food and protecting the camp and the women were in charge of the home. The name 'Apache' came from the Zuni word 'apachu' meaning "enemy". The Apaches formerly roamed over southeastern Arizona and south-western Mexico. The Apaches were extremely strong and fit and it was said that a warrior could run a hundred miles in a day or climb a high mountain and not be out of breath.

What did the Apache tribe eat?
The food that the Apache tribe ate depended on the natural resources of the area they roamed in. Small game, such as rabbit was a staple part of their diet together with corn, sheep and goats that they often traded with the farming Native Indians that lived in the Southwest. Other food items included beans, sunflower seeds and squash. The Apache drank a beer made from corn called tiswin (tesguino, tulipai) To make tiswin green corn sprouts or corn stalks were pressed for the juices, which then were heated. The Apache tribe were a resourceful people and could subsist on herbs and roots. They were able to satisfy their thirst when traveling through the desert regions by chewing on a piece of bark or moss which started the flow of saliva.

原来印第安人是根据自然条件决定生活方式的，因为没有金属工具，大草原地带和沙漠地带主要是打猎为生，水源附近容易耕种，主要是农业。

印第安部落之间也是千差万别的，到现在也是如此，富裕的部落富庶无忧，靠天吃饭悠悠闲闲，穷困边缘寒冷地区的部落连基本生活用品和蔬菜都保证不了

沙漠地带打猎的印第安部落用猎物和农业发达的部落交换粮食
