The CMA exam is changing in 2015!

The ICMA recently conducted a Job Analysis Study in the context of the CMA exam. The result prompted changes to the Content Specification Outlines (CSOs) and Learning Outcome Statements (LOSs) for Parts 1 and 2 of the CMA exam. The adjustments will affect approximately 10% of the CMA exam content, including a new name for Part 1: Financial Reporting, Planning, Performance, and Control. The new CSOs and LOSs will be tested beginning January 1, 2015. The current CSOs and LOSs will be tested until the end of the last testing window in 2014 (September/October).

How is the content changing?
See below for a summary of the changes. Items that are struck through have been deleted or replaced. Items that are underlined and highlighted in yellow are new.

Part 1: Financial Reporting, Planning, Performance and Control
A. External Financial Reporting Decisions (15%)
B. Planning, Budgeting and Forecasting (30%)
C. Performance Management (20%)
D. Cost Management (20%)
E. Internal Controls (15%)

Part 2: Financial Decision Making
A. Financial Statement Analysis (25%)
B. Corporate Finance (20%)
C. Decision Analysis and Risk Management (20%)
D. Risk Management (10%)
E. Investment Decisions (15%)
F. Professional Ethics (10%)
