Chinese researchers reached the top of Qomolangma on Wednesday and they installed the world's highest automatic weather station at an altitude of 8,800 meters to study the effects of climate change on the environment of the Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau.中国研究人员周三登上珠穆朗玛峰山顶,在海拔8800米的地方安装了世界上最高的自动气象站,以研究气候变化对青藏高原环境的影响。
The feat allowed Chinese scientists to directly collect data for the first time from the summit of the world's highest mountain, known as Mount Everest in the West.这一壮举使中国科学家首次从世界最高峰——西方的珠穆朗玛峰——的顶峰直接收集数据。
It also marked a crucial milestone in China's second comprehensive scientific expedition to the plateau, which began in 2017, the scientific expedition team said.科考队表示,这也是2017年开始的中国第二次高原综合科考的一个重要里程碑。
