I think that no matter who will become the final candidate, through this debate ,the new  head of the IFM will consider more benefit of the  emerging economies .we won't be silent in the IFM ,we have the right to do something to change the role of us , this is just the first time ,Maybe it won't success this time , but it means we will prepare it better next time .I believe one day ,the head of the IFM will be a chinese .

It's really interesting the male leaders in western country always have some sexual scandals. But this do not benefit female leaders a lot. I know Christine Lagarde because of the movie "inside job". I didn't know she once was lawyer. That's make sense, if a women got the high social status like her, there is only 2 ways, being success in law filed or the wife of the president. (I believe this with no doubt). It's necessary for IMF to change cause the world pattern is changing too. It seems that the US&EU dominated IMF has bias on the western countries, so that for the sake of developing country, the IMF needs to elect a Asian or African leader. But I would rather attribute this to the rising of emerging market. Only when the Asian countries are strong enough will they make their voice heard. So it's just a sign of the world economy pattern's change.
But, unfortunately, as EmmaUk referred, those countries are desperately need a excellent international candidate. That's a pity.

The IMF chief is comparatively powerful position to the global economy, though the protest is very high from the emerging economy,I believe the candidate who is supported by western countries having the actual power to make decisions won't change. It 's the Internation competition's rules made by the western countries. If the emerging economics want to do some change.they have to change and control the rule which is most crucial sector in the competition of the world.

来一小段:
OFFICIALLY the search for a new head of the IMF, to replace Dominique Strauss-Kahn, who awaits trial on charges of sexual assault, has barely begun. The fund’s member governments have until June 10th to propose candidates, after which a shortlist will be drawn up. But in practice the race seems all but over. That is because European countries, which hold over a third of the votes on the IMF’s board, have rallied around a single contender: France’s finance minister, Christine Lagarde.

the main view of this article is calling that  developed countried should end the monopoly.
maybe, this is a good will, but the fact is not, even never!

Christine Lagarde's being elected the next MD of IMF looks like a forgone conclusion. what's really interesting off stage is that there are more and more voices/noises for the nomination of a leader from emerging market.  Stanley Fischer, mentor to Ben Bernanke, cannot be categorized as from emerging markets. but except for Fischer i really don't see any promising leadership in the other candidates mentioned in this article. This article, on the other hand, reminded me of Illiad, where one and only gold apple started all the quarrels and conflicts.
