This depends on how you discuss with the professor. In general, you should come by the lecturer's office before class and ask him/her if you are able to audit the class. If he says ok, there is no need to pay. However, if the professor wants to increases the number of attending students or for some other reasons (such as you will pay mort efforts on this class once you pay for it), you will need to register.

semester：学期制的，如 spring是春季班，fall是秋季班。有时候summer也是一个semester，有5 week 和10 week两种课程。
tuition：你的学费
student ID：你的学生证号，是你在学校最常用的证件号码，没有之一。
Social Security Number （SSN）:社会安全码，美国用的，为xxx-xx-xxxx这种格式。
