Cognition and Incomplete Contracts

Abstract
Thinking about contingencies, designing covenants and seeing through their implications
is costly. Parties to a contract accordingly use heuristics and leave it
incomplete. The paper develops a model of limited cognition and examines its
consequences for contractual design.
