旅行者集团是指什么
1998年,在旅行者集团（Travelers Group）和花旗集团（Citi Group）合并形成全球金融服务公司花旗集团。
旅行者集团原是一家生命与财产保险公司，后来它通过收购一家美国投资银行—史密斯·邦尼（Smith Barney）公司，把业务范围扩大到了投资银行、商业信贷、融资服务等领域。
1986年,离开美国运通后,杰米·戴蒙和桑迪·威尔创建Commercial Credit Company基业时,给公司的定位是“(服务于)那些到麦当劳买汉堡包的(客户)”,将银行业的服务对象由生产者(企业客户)转变为消费者(个人客户),改变了以JP摩根为代表的银行服务理念。
1987年,这家公司收购并更名为Primerica Corporation。
1993年收购了The Travelers Corporation,更名为Travelers Group(旅行者集团)。
1997年，该公司又以90亿美元兼并了美国第五大投资银行—所罗门兄弟公司，新组建的所罗门·史密斯·邦尼公司(Salomon Smith Barney)一跃成为美国第二大投资银行。
1998年，花旗银行与旅行者集团的合并是美国有史以来最大一起企业兼并案，合并后组成的新公司成为“花旗集团”，其商标为旅行者集团的红雨伞，合并后花旗集团的总资产达到7000亿美元，净收入为500亿美元，营业收入为750亿美元。通过与旅行者集团的合并，花旗集团成为世界上规模最大的全能金融集团公司之一，由 1997年《财富》杂志世界500强排名第58位一跃升至1998年的第16位。
旅行者集团目前的业务范围主要有：生命与财产保险、投资银行、商业信贷、私人理财、资产管理等。
