While controlling everything else (such as research questions, quality and quantity),

1. Which one of the two methodologies is more "powerful?"

2. Which one is more "meaningful?"

3. Which has a greater impact?

4. Which is more in need in the job market? (Specify the location please.)

DO not think any questions like these, just think whether you like it and want to spend some time to do it

I agree. But "whether you like it and want to spend some time to do it" applies more to the research question that you seek, not the methodology you use. In this academic world of co-creating peer-review process, it is critical to learn the purpose and the potential impact of each possible approach, especially when you have an option.

In addition, it may worth to explore which skill lead a Ph.D. student to a better job offer, while all the other factors are controlled. I am concerned about the math modeling in management science. Any one can enlighten me of its potential significance that differs from economic models?

  Many thanks.
