Liu Qiangdong, the billionaire founder and chief executive of Chinese online retailer JD.com, is being investigated on suspicion of rape, according to police, as more details emerge about his arrest last Saturday in Minneapolis.
The tech entrepreneur, also known by the English name Richard, was taken into custody and released without charge or bail in what was initially described as “criminal sexual conduct” involving a Chinese student at the University of Minnesota. Mr Liu returned to China on Monday.
