Once you have finished this degree you will able to:
- Show broad knowledge of business organisations and their environment, as well as the information systems that these require and understand the interconnection between the two fields.
- Apply the knowledge acquired of business management to the analysis, management and implementation of information systems and play an intermediary role between the functional areas of an organisation and the technologies at the service of information.
- Collect and interpret data and make well founded and argued judgements about the company, its environment and the needs arising in this respect, especially concerning organisational aspects and the management of information and its technologies, in order to play a relevant role in improving the quality of the organisation.
- Transmit information, ideas, problems and solutions in relation to day-to-day management and teamwork, whether in this field or multidisciplinary, to specialists involved in the management of the company.
Cross-curricular skills
- Capacity for analysis and synthesis, organisation, planning, problem solving and decision making.
- Communicate on a technical level and both orally and in writing in Catalan, Spanish and a third language, preferably English.
- Manage and coordinate work teams, especially intra and interdisciplinary teams, with special attention to the needs and conflicts that might arise.
- Capacity for working in international contexts and/or varied and multicultural settings, while valuing ethical commitment in professional exercise.
- Capacity to adapt to new situations and new knowledge by working autonomously and with the will to overcome difficulties.
- Show creativity, initiative and sensitivity towards social and environmental issues.
Specific skills
- Show knowledge and understanding of the principles of economics and the main theories and models for explaining economic behaviour on a micro and macroeconomic level.
- Show knowledge of the theories, institutions and regulation of international markets, their globalisation, their interrelation and their consequences for the Spanish economy.
- Show knowledge of the fundamental regulations of the Law, and their application to the area of business and the management of information. Similarly, understand the principles, structure, and organisational and internal functions of companies and organisations.
- Analyse, identify, support and resolve problems in terms of organisational affairs and company management, especially in complex situations related to business organisations.
- Propose, analyse, validate and maintain IT solutions in the context of a business organisation.
- Design and configure models and systems that are able to collect, store, transmit, process and recover digital information in a reliable and efficient manner.
- Show knowledge and understanding of different models of analysis, management and control of organisations, which are needed to coherently interpret the design of information systems and the functional organisation of the same.
- Integrate knowledge and skills to produce academic or professional work in the area of business information systems, promoting work in environments that are in keeping with reality.
- Show knowledge of business information systems, taking into consideration their three specific dimensions (information, technology and organisation) and play an active role in their specification, design and implementation.
