That's great. I just start this course this semester.
On the first class, professor just talked about some options strategies and valuation of options.

Definition of 'Derivative'
A security whose price is dependent upon or derived from one or more underlying assets. The derivative itself is merely a contract between two or more parties. Its value is determined by fluctuations in the underlying asset. The most common underlying assets include stocks, bonds, commodities, currencies, interest rates and market indexes. Most derivatives are characterized by high leverage.

I have just learned derivatives this semester.I think the valuation of options is the most attractive section,because it reflects the core idea of finance which is No arbitrage equilibrium.However,in China,the study of derivatives is not that much,I think it can be improved in the future.
