Google will join forces with Wikipedia and other US technology companies to stage online protests against anti-piracy legislation, in the first co-ordinated political demonstration by many of the world’s most popular websites.	谷歌(Google)将加入维基百科(Wikipedia)和其它几家美国科技公司，通过网络抗议行动反对美国反盗版立法。这是全球最热门的几家网站首次协同进行的政治示威行动。
Wikipedia will begin a global blackout of its English-language sites on Wednesday, while Google will post a message on its US home page criticising the Stop Online Piracy Act and the Protect Intellectual Property Act currently being discussed in Congress. Wikipedia and Google are two of the five most visited sites on the web.	维基百科将从周三开始在全球范围内关闭其英语网站，而谷歌则将在美国版主页上发布信息，批评美国国会目前正在讨论的《反网络盗版法案》(Stop Online Piracy Act)和《知识产权保护法案》(Protect Intellectual Property Act)。维基百科和谷歌是全球访问量最高的五家网站中的两家。

Google is likely to replace the logo on its homepage with a politically themed “Google Doodle”, to draw its millions of daily visitors’ attention to what it believes is a threat to freedom of speech. The moves are a stark contrast to their opponents in the media and entertainment industries that are relying much more heavily on the traditional method of lobbying lawmakers in Washington DC. Wikipedia’s action – which will prevent users from reading or editing any of the online encyclopedia’s English entries, but will leave the articles about the two pieces of legislation live – has drawn criticism from some in the technology world.	维基百科将阻止用户浏览及编辑这部网络百科全书中的任何英文词条，只开放与上述两部法案相关的文章。这一举动招致一些科技界人士的批评。
“That’s just silly,” wrote Dick Costolo, chief executive of Twitter in a tweet exchange with a reporter on Monday. “Closing a global business in reaction to single-issue national politics is foolish.”	“这简直太愚蠢了，”Twitter首席执行官迪克•科斯特洛(Dick Costolo)周一与一名记者互发Twitter信息时写道，“为了一个国家中的一个政治议题而关闭一项全球性业务，这太傻了。”
While Google will not participate in a full blackout, changing its Google Doodle is still a strong statement by the internet search giant.
