Abstract：On the basis of authors’ teaching experience, this paper illustrated a straightforward explanation of the principle of hypothesis theory focusing on the use of chi-square test. We analyzed the whole test process using a typical case of testing the hypothesis of uniformity for people’s birthday. This paper emphasizes on the neutral position in using statistical tests, and pay attention to the error statistical tests. The characteristic of this paper is to use a simple example to include all aspects of statistical hypothesis testing, and use very few mathematical formulas. The purpose of this paper is to make students in-depth understand the idea of hypothesis test theory for students without many probability and mathematical background.
