About the Author: ROBERT E. MELDMAN, J.D., LL.M., is a retired shareholder in the law firm of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His practice focused on tax controversies and tax aspects of general business and international transactions. The author received his law degree from Marquette University and his Master of Laws in Taxation from New York University. Mr. Meldman currently serves as the Director of the University of WisconsinMilwaukee Low Income Taxpayer Clinic. A fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, Mr. Meldman was the author of CCH Practical Tactics for Dealing with the IRS, co-author of A Practical Guide to U.S. Taxation of International Transactions, and co-author of the previous seven editions of Federal TaxationPractice and Procedure. Mr. Meldman has also written numerous articles for professional journals and law reviews, and he was an editorial board member for the Journal of Property Valuation and Taxation. Mr. Meldman served as adjunct professor at Marquette University Law School, adjunct professor at University of Queensland T.C. Beirne School of Law, Brisbane, Australia, adjunct professor at the University of WisconsinMilwaukees Master of Taxation and Graduate International Business Program for over 30 years, and as an Executive in Residence at the Deloitte & Touche Center for Multistate Taxation at the University of WisconsinMilwaukee. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the Law Association for Asia and the Pacific, the State Bars of Wisconsin, Florida, and Colorado, and the Emeritus Panel of Federal Defenders Services program for the Eastern District of Wisconsin. Robert J. Misey, Jr., J.D., M.B.A., LL.M., is a shareholder with the law firm of Reinhart Boerner Van Deuren s.c. in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mr. Misey concentrates his practice in the areas of tax controversies and international taxation. He previously worked as an attorney with the IRS Chief Counsel (International) in Washington, D.C. and as a large-case attorney in the Western and Southeast Regions. He has tried 23 cases before the U.S. Tax Court. Mr. Misey received his Master of Laws degree, with high distinction, from Georgetown University, where he was the graduate student editor of The Tax Lawyer, and received his Juris Doctor and Master of Business Administration degrees from Vanderbilt University. He is a member of the Tax Section of the District of Columbia, California, and Wisconsin bars and a former member of the Inn of Court at the U.S. Tax Court in Washington, D.C. Mr. Misey often speaks on taxation at continuing education programs and has written numerous articles. He also teaches in the Master of Taxation program in the University of Wisconsin system.
