Alan Gasiorek accepted a position in February 2003 as Chief Investment Officer at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta with prime responsibility for the management of the organization’s endowment portfolio currently valued at $2.2 billion.
From 1997 through August of 2002 Mr. Gasiorek had effectively served as the Chief Investment Officer for BellSouth Corporation’s pension and benefit trusts. In this capacity he had responsibility for directing the investment of approximately $23 Billion in assets. Approximately $7 Billion in assets were allocated to alternative assets including, venture capital, buyout funds, real estate, and natural resources.
Prior to assuming responsibility for the investment of BellSouth’s trust assets, Mr. Gasiorek spent twenty years as a corporate development professional, eleven of them with BellSouth. Industry experience includes natural resources, telecommunications, publishing, entertainment, leasing, insurance, transportation, and office products. In 2002 he wrote and published the 2nd edition of his book - Merger & Acquisition; Valuation and Structuring.
Mr. Gasiorek graduated fromNorthwesternUniversity’s Kellogg graduate school of business in 1976 receiving an MBA. In 1980 he also earned a Master’s Degree in Taxation (“MST”) fromDePaulUniversity. He is also a CPA.
Mr. Gasiorek is a frequent lecturer on the subject of private equity. Example speaking engagements include; MIT, Emory,Columbia, Duke’s Graduate School of Business, Goldman Sachs Special Speaker series, and the Institutional Limited Partners Association.
