Macron plans countrywide consultation after energy price protests

Emmanuel Macron has moved to calm the so-called “gilets jaunes” protests against rising French fuel taxes by proposing that the increases be reviewed by the government every three months to reflect fluctuating global energy prices.
The French president was speaking on Tuesday after more than 100,000 demonstrators wearing yellow vests took to the streets across France at the weekend capping 10 days of sometimes violent protests
