需求的价格弹性（Price elasticity of demand），在经济学中一般用来衡量需求的数量随商品的价格的变动而变动的情况。 a 当日本的汽车工业强大，在国际市场上同美国汽车工业竞争。则美国汽车的需求弹性下降！然后导致UAW需求弹性变小！b.很明显 进口日本汽车在刚性需求一定的情况下会减少本国汽车的产量，此时本国汽车工业有两种策略：1.降低工资降低成本提高竞争力！2.裁员 那么就存在失业增多！c.日本汽车工业增长 导致市场竞争激烈 竞争性工资下降，而美国汽车竞争力相对下降 所以UAW会降低工资 但幅度是不一样的！所以会相对减小差距！有什么不明白的 继续讨论！我也不太懂这段文字 翻译过来的有点晦涩！  呵呵 欢迎讨论！

So the union had to choose between allowing the union wage to decline or facing the loss of many jobs.
