AbstractObjectiveTo study the relationship between polycythemia and blood viscosity at high altitude. MethodsHaemorheologic detection was made to 793 people of different length of staying at high altitude and the results were analyzed. ResultsHematocrit and blood viscosity kept rising with time going of high altitude staying. ConclusionsIn hypoxia environment at high altitude, blood viscosity keeps rising with time going of high altitude staying while Tibetan people have the ability to inhibit over-increase of erythrocyte due to their adaptation to the high altitude.
