首先，你要明确stata保存信息的方式（操作对象）有几种。

什么是标量、矩阵（向量）、变量、宏（局部、全局）、数据库，等等，以及如何利用它们存储的信息。

其次，你要明确某一命令本身对应的统计原理，以及在该原理下哪些结果在统计实践中可能“很有用”。stata让一个命令得到（或得不到）某些结果，不是无缘无故的，要依据某一原理并考虑统计实践中经常需要的东西。

如果你迫切要求统计软件给出某种结果，你也常常更容易看懂某一命令的结果。

怎么说呢，论坛上其实有大量基础学习资料，论坛讨论帖不可能也无义务具有教科书功能。自己探索本身应该是一种乐趣（就像ipad等并不附通常意义的说明书），探索得来的东西远比别人教说的更能发挥作用，探索者也更理解其中的意义。

说大一些，每种软件也对应了一种文化，探索软件的功能，其实也是潜移默化地感受其文化的过程（就像ipad等本身代表着一种文化）。有此为基础，甚至可以按其文化模式帮助该软件开发新功能。对于初学者，这虽然扯得有点“远”，但是学习中会大量遇到这种情形。

还有一点必须指出，许多人不理解不会用统计软件的某种功能（以及为什么某统计软件会设计某命令），常常是由于缺乏相关的统计学基础知识。
