The recent growth in the market is pointed up in sharp detail by Berry Bros and Rudd, the upmarket wine merchants. Wine buying director Alun Griffiths says the Chinese wine market has been growing by 15-20% a year and his firm now does 25% of its business in Hong Kong. Five years ago that figure was barely 6%. Chinese tastes are certainly high-end; Bordeaux, which makes some of the most expensive fine wines in the world, is a favourite. But only a few chateaux seem to interest them. Mr Griffiths says the wine is not necessarily bought for its taste, as the opening paragraph of this piece fully illustrates, but the name is important, too. "Chateau Lafite sounds well to the Chinese ear, in a way that other Bordeaux wines don't. That may change, but it is the label they are choosing for the moment."

But in China, it's not the same case. People are very rush now, it is the time to stop and think, what a person can do for the common good  for the people of their own kind.

These days, I often read text messages on topic of wine. How to choose the red wine? If you have money, red wine  is a good investment choice. Taste red wine, upgrade your life. Or even direct advertisements of some wine brands. And there are also statistics about the contrast between wines enjoyed by the wealthy and others. And it is said that most of the successful like to drink one or two brands of wines, but not be addicted to alcohol.
Surely, the wine is becoming  a sign of life quality. As other luxuries, it is trying to become part of life in Chinese billionaires.
Sometimes, I think same utility can be obtained from different origins. Luxuries open up a new social circle showing off aristocratic cast. Grassroots can also get daily use items, but in a far cheaper way.

真的很讽刺，中国的贫困人口还有千万人，每天为了吃饱饭而愁，这边竟然成了世界奢侈品增长最快的国家，并可能成为头号奢侈品消费国，可悲啊！

I dasticly suppose it is a very very serious and ironical phenomenon recently in China. The current chinese are impatience. I feel that they have not the real and valuable goal of life except money.
