China’s GDP grew by 9.5% in the second quarter year on year, allaying fears of hard landing for China’s economy, but brings some suspects that the economy is not landing at all but grows too fast to sustain.
Part of the growth comes from the nature of inflation, 2/3 of which is due to food price, especially pork. Investment in fixed assets, such as buildings, factories and equipment, perhaps mostly carried out by state-owned firms, takes up 62% of the economy’s expansion.
Banks are feeling the pinch, adding less than 7.5 trillion yuan to their loan books. But a broad measure of social financing, including corporate bonds, letters of credit loans from Hong Kong, credit from trust companies and similar firms, could take China’s stock of financing to a much larger amount than last year.
China is expected to take more yuan of extra financing as 2.38 to produce additional yuan of GDP. To maintain the growing pace of economy is really hard for China’s financial system.
