会议背景介绍：  The IEEE International Conference on Data Mining series (ICDM) has established itself as the world's premier research conference in data mining. It provides an international forum for presentation of original research results, as well as exchange and dissemination of innovative, practical development experiences. The conference covers all aspects of data mining, including algorithms, software and systems, and applications.

ICDM draws researchers and application developers from a wide range of data mining related areas such as statistics, machine learning, pattern recognition, databases and data warehousing, data visualization, knowledge-based systems, and high performance computing. By promoting novel, high quality research findings, and innovative solutions to challenging data mining problems, the conference seeks to continuously advance the state-of-the-art in data mining. Besides the technical program, the conference features workshops, tutorials, panels and, since 2007, the ICDM data mining contest.

征文范围及要求：  Topics related to the design, analysis and implementation of data mining theory, systems and applications are of interest. These include, but are not limited to the following areas:

会议背景介绍：  The 8th International Conference on Advanced Data Mining and Applications (ADMA 2012) will take place in Nanjing, China, 15th-18th December 2012. It builds on the success of the series of seven previous events from 2005 to 2011 in Wuhan (2005), Xi'an (2006), Harbin (2007), Chengdu (2008), Beijing (2009 & 2011) and Chongqing (2010). In these events many members of the practitioner and research communities valued the rich exchange of ideas made possible by the shared plenary sessions. ADMA 2012 will promote the same close interaction among practitioners and researchers. Published papers will go through a full peer review process.
The proceedings of the conference will be published by Springer in its Lecture Notes in Artificial Intelligence (LNAI) series. 会议背景介绍：  The 9th SDM workshop builds upon the success of the first eight workshops (SDM'04, SDM'05, SDM'06, SDM'07, SDM'08, SDM'09, SDM'10, SDM'11),  which were organized in conjunction with VLDB 2004 in Toronto, Canada, VLDB 2005 in Trondheim, Norway, VLDB 2006 in Seoul, Korea, VLDB 2007 in Vienna, Austria, VLDB 2008 in Auckland, New Zealand, VLDB 2009 in Lyon, France, VLDB 2010 in Singapore and VLDB 2011 in Seattle.
Although cryptography and security techniques have been around for quite some time, emerging technologies such as ubiquitous computing and ambient intelligence that exploit increasingly interconnected networks, mobility and personalization, put new requirements on security with respect to data management. As data is accessible anytime anywhere, according to these new concepts, it becomes much easier to get unauthorized data access. Furthermore, it becomes simpler to collect, store, and search personal information and endanger people's privacy. Therefore, research in the area of secure data management is of growing importance, attracting attention of both the data management and security research communities The interesting problems range from traditional ones such as, access control (with all variations, like dynamic, context-aware, role-based), database security (e.g. efficient database encryption schemes, search over encrypted data, etc.), privacy preserving data mining to controlled sharing of data.

The aim of the workshop is to bring together people from the security research community and data management research community in order to exchange ideas on the secure management of data. The workshop will provide forum for discussing practical experiences and theoretical research efforts that can help in solving the critical problems in secure data management. Authors from both academia and industry are invited to submit papers presenting novel research on the topics of interest (see below).

Streaming data, social media data, content, electronic medical records, astronomy surveys, genomic and proteomic studies result into repositories of terabytes/petabytes/exabytes scale and pose significant challenges in analysis, which can be transformed to opportunities in Data Science. Recent meetings (KDCloud10, KDCloud11, PDAC10) have generated interest in adopting cloud and distributed computing resources for large scale data management, data mining and knowledge discovery tasks. The First International Conference on Big Data Analytics (BDA 2012) is set in this backdrop. The goal of the conference is to generate interest among researchers by exposing them to ground breaking opportunities that arise during analysis and processing of massive volumes of distributed data stored across clusters of networked computers. We invite researchers, developers, and users to participate in this event to share and discuss the emerging challenges in developing data management and data mining solutions, and frameworks around cloud and distributed computing platforms.

Attendance at BDA 2012 will be limited to a small number of active researchers.The format of the conference will encourage everyone to participate actively in discussions. Keynote discussions will be used to focus the debate onto current research issues. Pre-printed papers will be available to all participants and discussion is expected to lead to improvement of the papers and a record of their inter-relationships.

Paper Submission

Authors are invited to send PDF or Postscript files (using standard compression and encoding, with details). For preparing the manuscript, please see instructions for authors by Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science series. Each paper should contain a cover page with a short abstract of approximately 200 words. The submissions must be less than 16 pages The submissions will be accepted through EasyChair.
Proceedings: The conference plans to publish its proceedings in the Springer in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series (Approval is pending).
