太平洋国际区域科学协会（PRSCO）于1968年在圣地亚哥成立，属于国际区域科学协会成员组织。其首届学术研讨会于1969年8月在夏威夷大学的东西部中心召开。之后，全体会议和小规模会议先后在澳大利亚、加拿大、日本、韩国、墨西哥、新西兰、新加坡、中国台湾和美国等地召开。最近一次召开是2011年7月在韩国首尔。

国际区域科学协会（RSAI）成立于1954年，是一个关注国家或全球经济社会变化的区域影响研究的国际性学术团体组织。RSAI的工作是发挥聚集不同学科的专家和应用多学科方法的优势，应用新理论新技术来促进区域问题的解决。其旗下主办Papers in Regional Science和Regional Science Policy and Practice两种学术刊物（均为SSCI）。
