Abstract:

The articledescribes young workers and provides tips on how to deal with the differencesin generations. Young workers are described in terms of work enthusiasm,flexibility, multitasking ability and the way they communicate and interact.Terry Bacon, author of "What People Want: A Manager's Guide to BuildingRelationships That Work", reveals that young workers put greatvalue on rewards and recognition and have significant need for mentoring.Moreover, young workers expect their managers to be responsive,responsible and dedicated. Among the tips provided in dealing with thedifferences in generations include understanding motivations, encouragingteamwork, sharing job knowledge, striving for balance, providing guidance andavoiding making assumptions based on worker's age or experience.
