The expandingrange of global competition, coupled with the growing volumes of complex datain companies after having spent the last decade implementing Enterprise ResourcePlanning (ERP), have forced businesses and academics alike to turn tosophisticated technologies for solutions. Business Intelligence plays ever-increasinglyimportant roles in companies to obtain the competitive advantages. The marriagebetween the cutting-edge business intelligence technology and traditionaltopics of finance and economics has resulted in the field of FinancialEngineering. Accordingly, financial engineering as a cross-disciplinary fieldrelies on mathematical finance, intelligent methods and computer simulations tomake trading, hedging and investment decisions, as well as facilitating therisk management of those decisions, and thus strengthening the competitivecapability of companies. To promote the theoretical development and exchange ofBusiness Intelligence and Financial Engineering, the Seventh InternationalConference on Business Intelligence and Financial Engineering (BIFE 2014) washeld at Xi’An in August 8-10, 2014.
The mainpurposes of the Seventh International Conference on Business Intelligence andFinancial Engineering (BIFE 2014) are to exchange information and ideas onbusiness intelligence and financial engineering, to promote a higher academiclevel of business intelligence and financial engineering, and meantime toprovide an international forum for experts from academia in the field ofbusiness intelligence and financial engineering from universities throughoutthe world, as well as business practitioners and senior management fromindustries can discuss current focus problems, new modeling approaches andfuture alternative solutions.
