Say I have repeated observations on a given variable (e.g., job satisfaction on 4 occasions). I am not interested in modeling the trajectories in RCM (yet). Rather, as a starting point, I'm interested in creating a trajectory for each individual so that I can treat that trajectory as a variable for purposes of checking its correlation with other (time invariant) variables and so that I can include that trajectory as a variable in a correlation table. Make sense? I suppose I could move to HMLM and save those trajectories as variables (I think this can be done in HLM), but I'd rather not go through that just yet. Any ideas as to how to create trajectories in SPSS?

The simplest way is to restructure your data from wide to long (VARSTOCASES), split the file by ID, invoke OMS-OMS END, run a regression command, open the OMS save file and, there are the B's by id. It reads like you'd like to compute/plot correlations between the B's and other variables and to do that you'll need to match files the OMS save file (you may want to do some file cleaning out at this point, which you'll understand when you look at the variable list) back to the original dataset.

There are examples from Singer and Willett for R too:

Here is a link to all examples for the text, showing other chapters and programs:

See the examples for Singer and Willett's Applied Longitudinal Data Analysis at UCLA's Institute for Digital Research and Education site.

Examples for other chapters may be useful when you start to model.
