Floods are a third major natural disaster this year in China following snowstorms
and an earthquake. As the rainy season will likely last for a while, it is still too early
to assess the impact on China’s economy, but assuming a normal year, the real
economic effect should be very limited

NDRC announced to raise retail power
hike an average Rmb25/MWh (or 4.7%) effective 1 July 2008. Residential
users, farmers and fertilize producers will be exempted from the hike due to
inflation concerns, and tariffs in earthquake affected areas, namely Sichuan,
Shaanxi and Gansu, will also remain intact。
