RBC Machine Intelligence Research is looking for passionate researchers to join its fast evolving Machine Learning team. We are looking for people that love research, want to continue doing research outside academia and are eager to witness how that can disrupt the future of banking!
The lab supports open academic collaborations. We work with leading Universities in Canada and the US on machine learning projects in theory and applications in computer vision, NLP, biometrics, security and privacy. As a part of our team you will have the opportunity to publish original research in, peer-reviewed, international academic conferences and journals. The lab typically participates in conferences such as NIPS, ICLR, ICML, CVPR and other.
Working for RBC Research offers unique access to structured and unstructured bank datasets that can be used for ML research. If you are looking to continue your research outside academia and want to play with large amounts of real-world data then you belong in this team!
What will you do?
Perform literature reviews in areas of focus and present state-of-the-art findings to the team.
Conduct original research in Machine Learning for application in computer vision, natural language processing, security, privacy and HCI.
Formulate and test hypotheses fast and efficiently and Draft, edit and publish academic papers in leading scientific conferences.
Participate and present work in academic conferences.
Collaborate with RBC’s data scientists over the use of novel ML algorithms for data analytics and collaborate with development team to enable the transfer of research results into demoable applications.
Teach team members about latest developments in Machine Learning.
Contributes to the continuous enhancement of research and innovation at RBC and authority to recommend development of new software applications
Accountable for the accurate documentation and presentation of technical information to the team and accountable for the accurate and thorough consideration of security, privacy or other technical issues related to technologies.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
Passion for Research & Development!
PhD or MSc in computer science, engineering or related fields.
Publication record in the general ML space.
Experience with Python.
Hands-on experience with fast prototyping using public libraries and APIs
Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
Nice-to-have
Experience with Deep Learning
