The true potential of spreadsheet software lies in their application in what is now referred
to as exploratory modeling, which enables business and financial analysts to work on the
fly on unstructured problems. Business Modeling with Spreadsheets offers a rich set of
business contexts that make learning about spreadsheets interesting and the skills
acquired more effective and enduring. Unlike the existing titles in the market, this book
is wholly dedicated to the art of exploratory spreadsheet modeling. Practice problems
that readers encounter on a day-to-day basis are presented, with the aim of helping them
to derive generally applicable principles and to link principle to practice.
Undergraduates and professionals whose work involves managing finance, accounts, and
operations will find this book a refreshing learning guide and reference resource.
Although Excel 2003 is the main spreadsheet software covered in this book, it also
includes useful comments to guide users of Excel 2007 and StarOffice8 Calc.
