Real estate, private equity, arts, and even wine are gaining increasingpopularity as capital investments. Attractive risk-return profiles andhigh diversification potentials make them valuable additions toinvestment portfolios. Their main drawback, however, is the low levelof liquidity. Such assets cannot be bought or sold quickly withoutcompromising large portions of their value. Despite its high practicalrelevance, this issue has so far received only little attention fromresearchers.
