Lenovo Group Ltd. continued to make a recovery in the fourth quarterof 2009 from losses incurred in the first half of the year, accordingto company financial figures released on Feb. 4.
Net profit for the fourth quarter of 2009 hit $ 79.52 million,compared to a loss of $ 96.72 million during the same period in 2008.As of Dec. 31, 2009, net profit generated in the last nine months ofthe year was $117 million, an increase of 213.3 percent year-on-year.
Lenovo attributed the progressive improvement mainly to growingmarket opportunities, as well as the Chinese government's RMB 4trillion ($585.56 billion) economic stimulus package.
Sales revenue generated in China during the fourth quarter of2009 accounted for 47 percent of total revenues, an increase of 41percent year-on-year.
As of December 2009, Lenovo held a 33.5 percent share in theChinese personal computer market, up 2.8 percent quarter-on-quarter -the company's largest quarter-on-quarter increase in nine years.
Prior to the third quarter of 2009, Lenovo had reported twoquarters of consecutive losses since the fourth quarter of 2008. Thecompany generated a net profit of $1.99 billion, up 19.3quarter-on-quarter and 9.3 percent year-on-year in the third quarter of2009.
