governments can finance its deficit by either monetarize its debt or issue bonds.
the second case is more likely to cause hyperinflation.
govnt cannot borrow from public without limit. once the accumulated debt hits the debt ceiling, public will not be willing to lend to govnt any more. at this stage, deficit have to be sole fianced by printing money at a rate that is suffcient to cover all accumulated debt plus interest payments. this process will cause excessive inflation. combining other factor such as high inflation expectation, speculation behavior in the currency mkt, hyperinflation may emerge.
experiences from south america more or less fit this pattern.
