Plans for infusing billions of dollars into infrastructure projects in developed and emerging economies are paving the
way for the next global spending boom. This spending boom will be fuelled by public spending and via an increased role
for the private sector. UBS Global Asset Management’s Infrastructure team is pleased to present the following paper,
“Outlook for global infrastructure” written by UBS Chief Economist, Larry Hatheway. The paper examines the global
macroeconomic landscape driving investor interest in infrastructure, highlights the economic theory linking the positive
fiscal benefits of investing, and discusses the challenges ahead for implementing projects.
