Diogenes Laertius has recorded for us the greek philosopher, Epicurus's thoughs on death, it is irrational to fear an event. If when that event occurs, we are not in existence. And, since when death is, we are not, and when we are, death is not. Then it is irrational to fear death. One might just as well, Epicurus argued, fear birth.
