题目是关于the supply and demand for land for residential development. the land supplied for such development comes from privately held open-space land or privately held farmland.问：how a decrease in government per-unit subsidies to farmers will affect the equilibrium price and quantity of land converted into residential development

我想的是，给农民补助少了，他们应该不愿意提供土地给房产开发了，所以supply应该减少呀，但答案是supply增加。

是不是应该这么理解：所谓给农民的补助是鼓励他们种地的，补助少了，不愿意种地了，所以愿意提供更多土地给房产开发了？

我个人觉得楼主有点答非所问。。
首先题目问你**给农民每单位的补贴少了对equilibrium price 有何影响，equilibrium price 应该增高了，这个画个图像就知道了、
然后问quantity of land converted into residential development ，补贴少了，自然农民土地supply少了，这就会促进residential development ，所以房地产开发会增长。
楼主理解错了，不是农民不愿意提供土地给房地产。这种题属于基础类经济题，并不考虑农民想法，只从整体政策和理论来分析

A decrease in govt agricultural subsidies reduces the incentive to farm, urging farmers to transfer their farmland. Thus more supply of residential land and lower equilibrium price can be expected.

A decrease in government per-unit subsidies to farmers makes the equilibrium price down. So more farms prefer change their own land into a business,not as a farmland. It leads to converting residential development.  BUT it may increase economy ot decrease economy , both is possible.
