In this section, we analyze the considerations that affect a firm’s choice of a risk measure.
To understand these considerations, we focus on two important concrete examples that allow us to examine the tradeoffs involved in choosing risk measures.
The first part of the section examines financial institutions. The second part of the section analyzes the choice of a risk measure for nonfinancial corporations.
