影片中刚毕业的男主角Ben，父母就已经替他安排好了一切，然而这些由父母一手包办的并不是Ben内心想要的。尽管他清楚明白这些并不是他想要的，但对接下来的未来生活他仍然充满了未知的迷茫。
这首《The Sounds Of Silence（寂静之声）》作为《毕业生》的插曲，由20世纪60年代民歌二人组Simon & Garfunkel演唱。旋律飘缓低迷，歌词充满了一种幻觉般的意境。细细听来，仿佛在诉说着年轻无助的一种宣泄。
