International Seminar on
"Transnational Corporations
and China's Development Trajectory"
(May 17 - 20, 2007, Marriott Hotel Downtown Ottawa, Canada)

This international seminar, on the theme of "TNCs and China", is Government-Enterprises-Scholars triangle based. Experts from Canada and China governments, from UN systems and from research institutes will discuss extensively how to direct Sino-TNCs make their investment in Canada & US, and how foreign TNCs' investment in China to be more rational and profitable within new environment in China. Also, it is proposed to have the best performing sino-TNCs in Canada & US, and some leading TNCs in China to share their successful experiences and lessons in practice.

The seminar welcomes all leaders in best performing TNCs residing in China or Sino-TNCs residing overseas, recognizable researchers in related fields, as well as best graduate students who can convince that they are strong in research or business of TNCs & China issues.

This seminar will be co-organized by TNCOnline Program Initiative, Canada Transco Global Inc., and Nankai University of China, and co-supported by Strategy & Policy Division (IPB) in DFAIT and Strategic Investment Analysis in Industry Canada, Columbia Program on International Investment (Columbia University).

Co-chairs include Dr. Karl Sauvant, Executive Director in Columbia Program on International Investment (Columbia Law School - Earth Institute, Columbia University), Dr. Someshwar Rao, Director of Strategic Investment Analysis in Industry Canada, as well as Dr. Manfred Beniefeld, Director of School of Public Policy and Administration in Carleton University.

The Secretariat is requesting and inviting a number of special guests to address in the seminar, including the Honourable Maxime Bernier, Minster of Industry Canada; the Honourable Kemal Dervis, United Nations Development Programme Administrator; the Honourable Ma Xiuhong, Vice Minister of Commerce, P.R. China; His Excellency Mr. Lu Shumin, China's Ambassador to Canada, as well as Rt. Hon. Robert Wright, Canada's Ambassador to China.

With China's social and economic development is attracting so much attention around the world, this seminar is proposed to foster more active working relationships between scholars, officials and entrepreneurs in China, Canada and the rest of the world.
