Levitt的简介来自中文维基：

史蒂芬·列维特（Steven David Levitt，1967年5月29日－）是美国经济学家，由于他在犯罪领域的研究而闻名于世，尤其是在犯罪率与堕胎合法化之间的关系的研究上。他曾获得2003年的约翰·贝茨·克拉克奖，而克拉克奖获得者被誉为”当今美国40岁以下最负盛名的经济学家”。列维特现在是美国芝加哥大学经济学院终身教授。他同时还是美国科学院经济学部委员，以及《政治經濟學期刊》（JPE）的编辑和《经济学季刊》（QJE）的编辑。他的声誉得到了整个经济学界的公认。他参与写作了畅销书《魔鬼经济学》及其续集《超级魔鬼经济学》。列维特被时代周刊评为“100位成就世界的人”之一。

这门课是今年(2012)冬季学期Levitt在芝加哥大学开的研究生课程，主要选课学生为经济系，公共政策学院，法学院的博士生。课程名字：Introduction: Empirical Microeconomic Research. 详细介绍请见课程大纲。

该课主要目的是为了引导博士生在完成标准课程之后，尽快着手自己的研究（主要是实证研究）。课程中最基本的经济学实证论文的组成部分开始讲起，到目前的课程（前五周）涉及了论文的组成，论文写作的过程 (eg. idea, data, presentation, submission, revision)，好论文的要素，structure vs. reduced form 等等。讲课过程中辅以好论文与坏论文实例讲解，经典论战八卦集锦。。。其中有不少论文是Levitt自己的论文，他会介绍文章背后的许多故事。
