Author(s): Malviya R., Department of Pharmacy Galgotias University India
Course introduction
In many scientific fields, including polymer science and nanotechnology, artificial in- telligence (AI) is transforming research approaches. This interdisciplinary collabora- tion promises faster discovery, material design, a better knowledge of structure- property correlations, and greater customization and innovation potential. This course introduces the role of AI in polymer design and characterization. The chapters discuss a wide range of subjects, including autonomous self-driving labs for material innova- tion and AI-enhanced polymeric drug delivery systems. To address difficult design problems, forecast polymer properties, enhance material performance, and uncover underlying relationships between structure and functioning, the book additionally discusses the use of machine learning in materials science.
The aims of the course are: to inspire future research at the intersection of data science, material informatics, nanotechnology, and polymer engineering; to introduce readers the basic and emerging applications of AI in polymer and nanomaterial re- search; to outline the technologies, methodologies, and frameworks reshaping mate- rial discovery; and to demonstrate the role of AI to develop autonomous, predictive, and scalable research models.
