Mr. Xi is about to take place of Mr. Hu shortly. This is an even bigger issue than US election since China is now a major player in world political stage.

Reform the under-graduate education in China, repositioning it. For employment? For research? or something else.

In my book, we should combine both under-graduate education and graduate education together, with schedule more than 5 years, or 6 years may be okay. Than the students can choose among the options.

If u take (opportunity) cost into account, u may find this is not feasible at all.

anyway, 5 or 6 years is a good choice for subjects that require substantial practices for the sake of security.
Subjects such as medicine and architecture.

No, if opportunity cost taken into consideration, it's clear that such a combination is necessary, just as the U.S. case. Nowadays, more and more undergraduates take themselves as technical or secondary school students, which shows a great waste of social resources.

You should see the essence, rather than the outlook exclusively. Not only the medicine or architecture need 5 or 6 years, but other fields; in other words, without such a time for preparation, you should not position yourself properly, which is the key step to your living and rooting in the competitive society.

Okay. I do agree with you. But why not more intense classes then? In my own experience, the forth/last year in college was completely a waste of time. The quality of educ is what really matters here. Wasting time in college or going big in biz? That's crystal clear.

Your words proves my arguments. We should know that education, including higher education, is a way to know and acquire the social game rules, or someday we can join in its changing and setting activities. The education itself, however, has no glory or halo of priority.
As to intense classes till the last year, it's a pity that the students and teachers are the sacrifies of the Soviet Education paradigm. Especially, the guardians, always the grandpas and grandmas, in the undergraduate education sees the planning institutions. It's ridiculous that both the students and teachers in the universities have no sense of learning, progress and promotion, which needs the help and guide of the so called guardians!
