you will likely be disappointed trying to find an "ideal" investment job in a soft economical market, going to a grad school will increase your chance

actuarial job is known for stability not highest pay. also your pay gradually increases as you become more experienced and able to hold more responsibilities. you will not be able to accomplish much while you are young and inexperienced, and likely just spend your early career years studying for the exams.  If you care about the starting pay a lot, this is not the career for you.  and P&C actuaries are only marginally higher paid compare to their life counterparts (by...maybe +10~20% ?)

yes, I think FE may be better for it. Anyway, I think I will try it first. Otherwise, I can gap 1 year, enjoying life and getting GRE done.

You may not be able to understand my thougts. But as an international student, I do really care about the starting pay. Coz my parents paid a lot to supoort my study in CA. Although they don't care about my money, but I still want to 'pay my tuition debt' back to them ASAP.

take a break and spend one year travel around the world is an option too if you don't do it in your early 20s, it will be hard to find another chance to do so...it takes a lot of courage to quit your job for a year in your 30s to do something similar.  if you manage to do something meaningful while travelling, like some charity job in Africa or something, it might help your application to business schools (MBA) too.. some of those top tier schools care about these kind of things more so than the GRE/GMAT score
