Steps to resolve Bookshelf not launching in Windows XP SP2.
Restart your computer and try to launch Bookshelf. If Bookshelf does not launch continue.
Go to your My Documents folder and locate the My Books folder. (C:\Documents and Settings\YourAccount\My Documents\My Books)
Once you have located the My Books folder, rename it to be My Books Old
Launch VitalSource Bookshelf.
Bookshelf should launch. Once Launched click the Sign-In button and sign in with your email address and password.
Once signed in, go to the File Menu and choose the Restore from Backup... menu option.
Go to the following file: C:\Documents and Settings\YourAccount\My Documents\My Books Old\VitalSource Bookshelf\User Data\Notes.db This will restore your notes and highlights.
Once your Notes and Highlights have been restored you can delete the My Books Old folder.
