What the author of the post said seemed to be a little bit empty and far from the real life of an Actuary in practice. Liberal Arts have little significant influence on the Actuary career. If you are interested in the acutuary science, just do it as other subjects, during the process of preparing, you will feel depression or inspiration, however,  stick to it for years you will gain the harvest and would find that on the contrary the Actuary science to enrich other aspects of work and life potentially, including the so called Liberal Arts.
