井底之蛙

The Frog in the Well

There was a frog that lived in a shallow well.

" Look how well off I am here ! " he told a big turtle from the Eastern Ocean. " I can hop along the coping of the well when I go out, and rest by a crevice in the bricks on my return. I can wallow to my heart's content with only my head above water, or stroll ankle deep through soft mud. No crabs or tadpoles can compare with me. I am master of the water and lord of this shallow well, What more can  a fellow ask ? Why don't you come here more often to have a good time ? "

Before the turtle from the Eastern Ocean could get his left foot into the well, however, he caught his right calw on something. So he halted and stepped back then began to describe the ocean to the frog.

" It's more than a thousand miles across and more than ten thousand feet deep. In ancient times there were floods nine years out of ten yet the water in the ocean never increased.

And later there were droughts seven years out of eight yet the water in the ocean never grew less. It has remained quite constant throughtout the ages. That is why I like to live in the Eastern Ocean. "

Then the frog in the shallow well was silent and felt a little  abashed.

It is difficult for me to speak English, but I want to try it as posible as I can.

Madrid and Barcelona are great teams, but I'm happy here and I would like to stay here for many years. My family are the same as me, we're happy. The people treat me really well and I'm very relaxed. I live in a very peaceful area, a small town!

I'm the 1st to come here. It is very useful to communicate with English words.

Great! The more you use English, the better you are good at it!

I am completely lost when I get into this place. This should be the place for people to talk about some specific things rather than write whatever we want. For example, anything happened in the financial markets, or any new electronic products launched. Without a theme, what shall people write here? Even you write something for the bonus, who will read apart from the host? What is needed in this place is to create a dialogue for people to interact instead of talking to themselves by typing. This will also encourage people to write interesting things, at least trying.  

My suggestions would be that there should be a topic list for each month or week. It could be math, finance, economics, biology, physics, movies, music, art etc. Then anyone come in can share their views on certain things or ask questions. How is Wiki created? It is a collection of different people's knowledge and views. If there is a place like this being created here, it would be of great use. We can focus on Chinese stuff since we are more familiar with our own country, people and culture. This would be a very good opportunity not only to practice English but also complie and share knowledge.

Anyway, just some personal ideas.

Hi. It's really nice of you to have posted this! In my opinion, if you want to become a proficient English speaker, a good idea is to break down the learning process. Why? Because learning a language related to all topics at the same time is overwhelming for everybody. And you just cannot remember all the language you've learned. If you focus on one topic or one context and keep searching for words and languages related to this topic, you will become an expert on this topic and have a strong feeling of accomplishment. So I guess you can start another thread and post a topic on the title, so that everyone will be engaged in the discussion in a meaningful and organized manner. Best luck.
