As standardized path coefficients (factor loadings) in measurement models can be interpreted as regression coefficients, I understand that a single item can be retained providing that the corresponding standardized path coefficient is significant (for instance,for p < 0.01) regardless of its absolute value (for instance, less than 0.6).

Is this true?
